Bespoke Fashion Design
Katie has a shop in Barnsley where she offers free consultations on appointment.
During the initial appointment Katie will discuss ideas and sketches, advise on fabrics and take the clients measurements. The next stage is sourcing fabrics which can then be posted out although at this stage the fabric colours and prints have already been decided which then leads on to the pattern cutting. Katie creates all of the patterns from basic blocks so this is the part where the 2D design start to come to life. After the patterns have been designed and built to the clients specific measurements the fabric is then cut out and ready to be stitched.
The second meeting is for the first fitting of the garment, at this stage any size alterations are pinned into place to ensure the perfect fit. The amount of Dress fittings depends on the intricacy of the garment, daywear and special occasion wear usually only take one fitting but a couture garment may take one or two. The last stage is finishing off alterations and completing the garment ready for collection.
